AUSTIN, TX – June 17, 2010 - Author and educational expert Author Professor David Floyd has released his book entitled, Through My Mother’s Tears that is now available for purchase. He opens up his life and shares 20 years of the educational dilemma of an African American boys’ burning desire to overcome insurmountable obstacles of poverty and disparity through blood, sweat, and tears. This is his passion and contribution toward an effort to a better educational system.

Although he is a successful and educated man, he is an example of the modern day abused child. The book explores his disparity and the many people in his life who subjected him to unfair treatment, mockery and abandonment. Low teacher expectations, negative peer pressure, and poor parental involvement contributed to his learning predicament and graduating high school functionally illiterate.

David is a member of “Black Men United for Reading and Writing” an organization that encourages black teenagers to get involved in literature and writing. His book is a model of success and is worth the price of the book. I would encourage “Through My Mother’s Tears” for all educators, parents, and community residents concerned about the future education of African American children.

David Floyd is a full time faculty member at Austin Community College. He teaches courses in accounting designed for freshman and sophomore students and CPA candidates. David received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accountant from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He then went on to receive his Master of Science in Accounting in 1996 for Bentley University in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2008, he passed the qualifying examinations for the Doctorate Degree from Argosy University.
